Reading Recap | May 2019

I read a record breaking (for me anyways) NINE books last month. That's pretty freaking amazing. And as much as I hate my 6 hour commute for the time being, it's nice having all that extra time to read. Here's the breakdown:

Thin Air by Lisa Gray (Amazon First Read) ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️

This was my pick for Amazon's First Reads and it kept me guessing until the very end. A perfect thriller!

How Not To Die Alone by Richard Roper (BOTM) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I loved and hated this one. I know, I know. Mostly I just hated the ending. Not gonna give away any spoilers but I'll just say that I like the endings of my books nice and tidy (unless it's a series.) So glad I chose this as my BOTM pick.

Little Boy Lost by J.D. Trafford (Amazon Prime Reads) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

At first I wasn't sure I would like this one but I stuck with it. Boy was I wrong. This was one where you root for the main character the whole way. Will definitely be keeping an eye out for more of his books.

Next Girl to Die by Dea Poirier (Amazon Prime Reads) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Another first in a series (YES!) This was another thriller/mystery (I'm on a roll, just go with it.) Can't wait to dig into the second book. Funny note: on the train reading. Older man sitting next to me who keeps looking at my phone. Queue unexpected explicit part. Suddenly someone isn't so interested in what I'm reading anymore. Ha!

Phantom Limb by Lucinda Berry (Amazon Prime Reads) ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I had one of the major plot spoilers figured out within the first few chapters. That being said, I neither loved or hated it. It's kinda like you know what's going to happen but you keep reading anyways. Super quick read.

As Good As True by Cheryl Reid (Amazon Prime Reads) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Oh man, this book. Such a great read. One that I might have put down a few times cause I didn't want it to end. Cheryl did an amazing job with all of the characters. Can't wait to read more of her stuff.

Her Last Word by Mary Burton (Amazon Prime Reads) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was another awesome whodunit who had me guessing right up until the end. Can't wait to dig in to more of her books.

Stillhouse Lake by Rachel Caine (Amazon Prime Reads) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I am SO glad this one is part of a series and I've already downloaded the second book on my Kindle. This one kept me guessing throughout the whole book and just when I thought I had it figured out, Rachel proved me wrong.

A Curve in the Road by Julianne MacLean (Amazon Prime Reads) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I *might* have cried on the train while reading this one. I really, really enjoyed it. This was another quick read (started it at work and finished it last night in bed.)

***

I went a little crazy this month and ordered THREE choices for my BOTM picks. I chose Recursion by Blake Crouch (Love you, Blake!), A Nearly Normal Family by M.T. Edvardsson and Ask Again, Yes by Mary Beth Keane. Plus I have all of the second books in the series above to get caught up on. Here's to hoping I'll get at least 10 books in this month!
